Southam U12 50 v 15 Coundon Court
The Southam Y7 Rugby team started their secondary school Rugby programme with a comprehensive victory over a physical Coundon Court team.
The signs are positive that after just 2 sessions together, the boys produced a performance that blended moments of individual brilliance with prolonged spells of teamwork and commitment to negating the attacking threats of the opposition.
Tyler found space twice in the opening minutes to weave through the defence and settle early nerves. The forwards then began to dominate the breakdown, where the selflessly secured the ball, with little though of personal glory. They supplied consistent, quality ball for Ioan and Jack C to distribute to the elusive Southam backline, who crossed the gain line with great regularity. Other trys were scored before half time by Ioan (2) and Jack C.
Ben was consistently difficult to bring down and began to find more space as the game wore on. His deep breaks set up further attacking plaatforms for Ioan, Max and Jack to score further trys. Ollie then took the game by the scruff of the neck and decided that he would single handedly carry the opposition over the line as he scored a quick double. Fittingly Tyller scored the 10th and final try to secure his hatrick.
This was a really pleasing start to the Rugby season and bodes well for the future. Training continues next Wednesday. Please check the noticeboars in the Gym for confirmation of upcoming fixtures.
Mr Lowdon.
