Year 7 Rugby

Southam Year 7 rugby team travelled to Ashlawn School on Wednesday evening. Southam dominated from the kick off and were rewarded for their early pressure when Cass drove over the line for his first Southam College try after fantastic running from Jack.
This early score gave Southam confidence with Ben scoring shortly after the forwards had scrummaged well before Adam played a nice pass allowing a simple touch down. The next two tries came from the same combination of players. Tricky wing play from Fraser and strong straight running from Max.
The second try deserves a special mention to Fraser with a superb side step that created lots of space for Max to run onto a great pass for an easy score.
The final score of the half came from Alfie who ran half the length of the pitch to score a great solo try. As well as scoring 5 tries the Southam defence was outstanding with big tackles being made from all players across the pitch.
Half time score 25-0.
Southam didn’t let up after half time and defended fantastically before a counter attack allowed Alfie to score in the corner. Jack also got on the score sheet after terrific running down the wing from Will. This was the last of the Southam scoring. Ashlawn did score 2 late tries to make the full time score 35-10 to Southam.
The year 7 boys gave a really good account of themselves with some brilliant defending and rucking building the platform for attacks.
Man of the match goes to Fraser for brilliant running and fantastic passing.
Well done gents, it was a pleasure to step in for Mr Lowdon and take your team for the game.
