Year 9 Football

Much improved second half in tough town clash for year 9

A tough night in Leamington for the year 9 Football squad. Missing a few flair players this new look team were slightly overpowered by a more forceful North Leamington side. After Josh M made an amazing double save the ball finally found the back of the net 2 in quick succession. Southam responded with the best football of the game working the ball right and a shot was well saved by the North Leam keeper. Sill errors and a lack of communication let a goal in from a corner and a further on the break as Southam pushed to get back into the game. A concerned stand in manager made a few tweaks and Jack C moved into the centre into a 4-5 -1. Dan M was a hard-working centre mid who worked tirelessly to support attacks and defend. Logan WS was a stalwart at the back and Jack H was the most improved moving to Centre back. The second half saw Southam put the ball in the back of the net from a quick free kick, but rightly it was disallowed for a moving ball.  Liam J showed some great touches up front. The second half finished 0-0 and we can see building blocks for the future if they keep concentration up and train hard. Playing on grass did influence the side, but NLS were deserved winners.

Logan WS was deserved Man of the Match work hard at the back, showing strength and aggression.

Josh M and Dan M were close runners up.
