Our Year 9 Rugby team had one last tournament to finish the year. Playing at Leamington RFC, we came up against Kenilworth and Kineton. Having won the tournament last time, with a hard-fought draw against Kenilworth, we knew our first game against them would be a tough challenge. The game was very close and both teams threatened to break through, but some great tackling and strong defence kept it scoreless at half-time. It became clear that one score would settle this match and Kenilworth managed to get it crossing in the corner. We rallied well and pressed Kenilworth back against their lines in the closing minutes, in search of a score to level the game. We got close, but ultimately came up just short, losing 0-7 at the end.
Our second game was against Kineton, who also provided a stern challenge, but it was one that we were able to meet this time. Ioan E. crossed in the first half with a typical powerful run, and Cassidy M. burst through the Kineton forwards to score in the second. Both tries were converted by Adam C. to give us a 14-0 lead. There were fantastic performances across the team from the forwards and backs, and though Kineton did cross for a score at the end, we could hold our heads high for a great season and finish with a win.
