Battlefields Trip – Day 3

Both coaches have had a day exploring the sites around the Ypres Salient in Belgium. We have visited Talbot House, the Everyman’s Club, where soldiers were able to rest and recuperate away from the trenches. Both coaches listened to some incredible piano music played by our talented students. We also visited Tyne Cot cemetery, the largest British military cemetery in the world, along with Langemarck German cemetery. All students walked in the trenches at Sanctuary Wood, many venturing into the tunnels too. This afternoon both coaches met at Essex Farm and listened to ‘In Flanders Fields’ which was written by John McCrae who served at the dressing station there.
