Year 10 Football Southam vs Shipston

The year 10 Football team started their league and cup journey on Monday 10th October, as they took a short trip across the countryside to Shipston High School. Southam started on the front foot with a couple of good chances in the opening 10 minutes but could not capitalise. Shipston then took the lead with a really composed finished which was followed by a brilliantly worked goal for Shipston to take a 2 goal lead into half time. Southam started the second half well which was rewarded with a goal finished by Tobias C and allowed them apply pressure with only a 1 goal deficit. Halfway through the second half, Shipston managed to take advantage from a long throw which was flicked goalward and over the line to take it to 3-1. Southam did not give up and managed to create good chances but could not finish until Liam J was through on goal and managed to calmly place the ball in the top right corner of the net to give Southam hope of getting something from the game at 3-2. Southam managed to push on and create more chances which could not be capitalised on and with time running down, Tobias C with 3 minutes on the clock, brilliantly struck ball from 25 yards out which rattled the crossbar but unfortunately, was as close as Southam got to an equaliser and came up short on this occasion. The 3-2 loss meant that Southam were out of the cup but lots still to play for in the League, with our next game against Kineton after half-term.
